Women Can Fly at the Military Aviation Museum on September 9
A Women Can Fly event was held at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Despite some less than idea weather, the dedicated volunteer pilots, supporting volunteers from the Ninety-Nines, Civil Air Patrol, etc. and a cadre of exhibitors made the day a great success. The Military Aviation Museum allowed participating pilots to use their wonderful grass runway to make these first flights extra special. In the end, 113 girls and women were able to take a flight and experience the joy of aviation!
The Military Aviation Museum also offered a Girls in Aviation Day with additional activities taking place concurrently with over 200 girls participating.
Women Can Fly events are put together by a partnership between Virginia Ninety-Nines Chapters, the Virginia Department of Aviation, aviation museums, and Virginia airports. If your facility is interested in participating in 2024, please contact betty.wilson@doav.virginia.gov.
