Willard G. Plentl Sr. Aviation Scholarship

The Willard G. Plentl Sr. Aviation Scholarship is awarded to a Virginia high school senior who is planning an aviation career in a non-engineering area. Non-aviation careers include, but are not limited to, pilots, aviation maintenance technicians, and aviation managers. A certification of acceptance into a non-engineering, aviation-related postsecondary education program is required. One scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded each year.

John R. Lillard Foundation Aviation Scholarship

The John R. Lillard Foundation Aviation Scholarship is awarded to a Virginia high school senior who is planning a career in the field of aviation. The student must have at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA and be enrolled or accepted into an aviation-related program at an accredited college. One scholarship in the amount of $3,000 will be awarded each year. This scholarship is offered through the John R. Lillard Scholarship Foundation Inc. and the Virginia Airport Operators Council.

Kenneth R. Scott Aviation Scholarship

The Kenneth R. Scott Aviation Scholarship is awarded to a Virginia high school senior planning a career in the field of aviation. The student must have at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA and be enrolled or accepted into an aviation-related program at an accredited college. One scholarship in the amount of $3,000 will be awarded each year. This scholarship is offered through the Virginia Airport Operators Council.

Chad Weaver Aviation Scholarship

With the Chad Weaver Scholarship, the Virginia Department of Aviation offers residents $1,000 to complete ground school, take flight lessons, or both. This scholarship is available to people seeking their private pilot’s license or their certificed flight instrugtor’s (CFI) endorsement at a Virginia flight school. The Chad Weaver Scholarship may be used once for a private pilot’s license and once for a (CFI) endorsement.
