Virginia Aviation Photo Contest

The annual Virginia Aviation Photo contest takes place each year and offer photographers and pilots the opportunity to show off their best aircraft pictures. Aerial photos highlighting Virginia’s lovely scenic areas as seen from the sky may be entered. Photos taken with drones will also be accepted. Winning entries may be featured in DOAV’s annual aviation calendar and social media.

Photo Contest Rules and Eligibility

Submitting Your Photos

Twelve submissions are allowed from each photographer. The photographs must have been taken in Virginia, have not been previously published, and be at least 300 ppi. A completed entry form and model release, if needed, should be submitted with each photo. Entry forms are available in the Forms and Publications section. Entries may be emailed to doavphotocontest@gmail.com. The submission deadline for the 2024 contest is August 4, 2024.

Permitted Artistic Medium

Only digital entries will be accepted. Photos should be taken at the highest resolution possible (minimum 300 ppi or 3MB). The preferred format is .jpg.

Transfer of Photo Ownership

Photos submitted to the contest become and remain the property of the Virginia Department of Aviation for use in the promotion of aviation in Virginia and may be used without any further permission or credit.
