Virginia Aviation Ambassador Ceremony Held at Hummel Field
Blue skies, along with a slight breeze to remind us that fall is here, set the stage for Hummel Field on Saturday, September 25th for the Airport’s annual Wings, Wheels and Keels event. This event showcased vintage and modern cars, boats and airplanes. There was a remote controlled airplane demonstration, a children’s play area, craft vendors, and aviation professionals in attendance.
Airport Representative Jamie Barnhardt presented DOAV Director Mark Flynn with a special award. The plaque was shaped like the outline of Virginia and was a thank you to the agency for its long time support of the airport’s event.
The Virginia Department of Aviation brought its trailer and PR Team, and held the Virginia Aviation Ambassador Ceremony at 11 am. Agency Director Mark Flynn introduced the new Gold-Level Ambassadors and presented them with their leather jacket reward for completing the program. There are now 570 people who have completed the Gold-Level of the Virginia Aviation Ambassador Program. This program is a great way to see the Commonwealth of Virginia and get rewarded for your travels.
