VALOR 5K to be Held at Winchester Regional Airport

The Winchester Regional Airport Authority is proud to host the annual VALOR 5K (formerly the “Trooper Manion 5K”) on May 22nd at 8:00 AM. The airport’s runway will be closed to allow race participants to complete the 5K on the paved surfaces typically reserved solely for aircraft operations.

The VALOR 5K is a memorial race honoring all public safety and military personnel currently serving or who have served from the Shenandoah Valley. All proceeds from the race support the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Youth Camp, a free five day camp focused on community service, STEM education, and character building.

Military, fire & rescue, and law enforcement equipment will be displayed along the race route, and a one-mile kid’s race will also be held. The event will be professionally timed by Shenandoah Valley Runners, and pre-registered participants receive an official race shirt. COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place.

Visit the event page for more details about the race and to register.
