Two Virginia Airports Included in Breeze Airways Launch

Breeze Airways is a new airline that launched today in the United States, and it’s founded by the same person behind JetBlue. The airline was initially supposed to launch in 2020, though understandably the timeline was pushed back a bit.

Breeze Airways has announced that flights will go on sale as of 8AM ET on Friday, May 21, 2021, at flybreeze.com, and via the new Breeze mobile app.

Breeze Airways will offer new nonstop flights to 7 destinations from Norfolk Airport. Service to Charleston International Airport and Tampa International Airport starts June 10 with nonstop flights to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on July 15, Bradley International Airport - BDL, John Glenn Columbus International Airport, Pittsburgh International Airport on July 22 and TF Green Airport (PVD) on July 29.

Richmond International Airport is one of 16 airports selected to join the inaugural network of Breeze Airways, the new “Seriously Nice” U.S. carrier from David Neeleman, who previously founded JetBlue, Brazil’s Azul, Canada’s WestJet, and Utah-based Morris Air.

“Richmond International Airport looks forward to welcoming Breeze,” said Commission CEO and President Perry J. Miller, A.A.E., I.A.P. “Great news like this presents tremendous opportunities to the communities we serve, including competitive fares, easy access to more destinations, and the ability to readily invite friends and loved ones to see all that the Richmond Region has to offer.”

Breeze will commence service from Richmond starting July 8, 2021.
