FAA Releases Newest Runway Pilot Simulator

The FAA has released its newest Runway Pilot Simulator (https://www.runwaysafetysimulator.com/).  This animation stresses the importance of saying “unable” when pilots are not ready or able to accept a clearance from ATC.

Even though Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) Part 91, section 91.123 requires a pilot to follow all ATC clearances and instructions, the final decision as to whether the pilot can comply is up to the pilot. If the pilot cannot safely comply with an instruction given by ATC, the controller must be informed immediately using the work “unable.”

The FAA’s animation library contains a number of recreated situations.  Pilots can learn from these actual events and get tips on best practices.
