Virginia Aviation Art Contest Deadline is January 10

It’s time to pick up your markers, paintbrushes and crayons and create your perfect aircraft for the International Aviation Art Contest.

The annual Aviation Art Contest is for students ages 6-17, and gives them the opportunity to use their creative and artistic skills while learning about aviation. Students must follow the theme, attach an entry form to their artwork, and mail in their artwork by January 10 to the Virginia Department of Aviation. Students can be entered through their school or individually by parents or guardians.

The theme of ‘Design your Perfect Aircraft’ was chosen for the 2022 competition, and the goal is for the students to learn and be inspired by the behind the scenes work of aviation industry specialists. The contest asks them to consider ‘what is your perfect aircraft?’ and reminds students that every craft they see in the sky today started with a similar question. Each student’s unique take on the theme can help bring new ideas to the future of aviation.

The contest was first launched in 1986 and each year young artists from FAI member countries all over the world enter the competition. In 2021 a total of fifteen nations were represented with gold medal winners from Japan and the USA and the talented participants entered magnificent artwork celebrating last year’s theme 'A Friendlier World with Air Sports'.

Virginia has had winners on the national and International level in recent years, and we look forward to seeing your most creative, innovative and well-drawn aircraft ideas for this year’s competition. Click the link to obtain an Art Contest Entry Form or visit our website for more details.
