Taking Travelers’ Temperature

An aviation industry trade organization has put its support behind an effort to have the Transportation Security Administration conduct temperature checks for the traveling public and for front-line customer service employees.

Airlines for America (A4A) represents leading U.S. airlines, and its members want the TSA to perform the temperature checks as long as necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Centers for Disease Control has recommended temperature checks as one of several public health measures that can help protect passengers, airline employees and employees of the airports.  A4A said that since all screening processes for the traveling public are the responsibility of the U.S. government, having temperature checks performed by TSA will ensure procedures are standardized thereby providing a consistent experience across all airports so that travelers can plan accordingly.
