Airlines Face Tough Choice

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin is demanding that airlines give the government a stake in their business if they accept federal bailout funds. This is designed to prevent airlines from using the funds to buy back stock and increase shareholder value instead of keeping employees on the payroll, which is the intent of the legislation. Leaders in the Democratic Party are warning that some airlines might choose to go into bankruptcy instead of accepting the conditions sought by the Treasury Secretary.
