New National Defense Airspace Declared

As ballots continue to be counted in the 2020 presidential election, the Federal Aviation Administration has designated former Vice President Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, Del., as “national defense airspace.”  The house and one additional location in Wilmington are now marked as a restricted area for flights.

According to the FAA website, temporary flight restrictions define an area restricted to air travel due to a hazardous condition, a special event, or a general warning for the entire FAA airspace.

In this case, there’s not been an official announcement regarding the reason for this NOTAM.  The FAA’s action, however, is being interpreted by some as a part of heightened security protocols in the event of Mr. Biden’s election as President of the United States.
