Rolls-Royce to Close Engine Components Plant

Rolls-Royce is closing its commercial aircraft engine components plant at Crosspointe, Virginia.  The Prince George plant, which opened in 2011, will close down in mid-2021 because of the economic downturn created by the Covid-19 virus.  Layoffs this past June had taken the workforce from 400 to 280 employees who were informed of the closing this past Friday.

The closure of the plant may also impact other companies that supply the factory, resulting in additional effects to the economy in central Virginia.
