Pilots Needed for PIREP Project
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) is encouraging pilots to participate in a project to evaluate whether hands-free or speech-based pirep-filing technology would encourage pilots to file more PIREPs.
A pilot report (or PIREP) is a report of actual weather conditions encountered by an aircraft in flight. These reports assist other pilots flying in the area.
Researchers at Purdue University are looking for pilots willing to participate in a session that lasts about 20 minutes during which they are asked to review several weather scenarios, then record a pirep as they would while flying. The resulting data will help the research team evaluate various ways to file pireps.
You need to be at least 18 years of age and have access to a laptop or desktop computer.
