World War II Aircraft at Hanover County Airport

The Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force will have aircraft available to tour and for rides on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, at the Hanover County Airport near Ashland from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Warbird Showcase has rides available in a Stinson L-5 Sentinel, used as a Forward Air Controller; a Boeing PT-17 Stearman Basic Trainer; and a General Motors TBM Avenger, the heaviest single-engine bomber of WWII and the same type of aircraft flown by President George H. W. Bush.

Because the demand for rides has been so heavy, the group has partnered with Heart of Virginia Aviation, which operates a flight school at the airport,  to offer airplane rides in a Tecnam P2002 or Tecnam P92.  They are contemporary light sport aircraft which are fun to fly.

Airplane rides start at $89.00  Tickets may be bought in advance at capitalwing.org or by emailing CapitalWingCAF@gmail.com or they may be purchased onsite for any flight times and/or aircraft that may still be available.

Parking and entrance to the display are free to the public; however, the non-profit Capital Wing of the Commemorative Air Force is accepting donations.
