Airport Programs

The Commonwealth of Virginia maintains one of the nation's most comprehensive and advanced statewide aviation systems.  To support the continuing growth and operation of this system, the Virginia Aviation Board (VAB) has developed funding programs to assist sponsors of public-use airports with a variety of improvement activities ranging from planning to construction to promotion. 

Specialists on the Airport Services Division team manage the following programs on behalf of Virginia’s Department of Aviation:

• Commonwealth Aviation Fund
• Facilities and Equipment Program
• Maintenance Program
• General Aviation Voluntary Security Certification Program
• Licensing program for public-use airports
• Registration program for private-use airports

Specialists on the Communications and Education team manage the Aviation and Airport Promotion Program and New Airline Service Incentive Fund on behalf of Virginia's Department of Aviation:
