Virginia Aviation Awards

The Virginia Aviation Awards Program recognizes the exceptional efforts made by members of the aviation community in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Three awards are presented.

Virginia Airport Manager of the Year - The nominated individual must currently be, or have been within the last year, the manager of a public use airport in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Virginia Aviation Person of the Year - The nominated individual must have made significant contribution(s) to aviation in Virginia within the past year.  Nominees may have made these contributions in any area of aviation (examples: airport development, services, and improvements; community relations, aviation education, promotion or safety; aviation technology, aviation policy, etc.

Virginia Aviation Lifetime Achievement Award - The nominated individual must have an established history of making significant contributions to aviation in Virginia over a period of years.  Nominees may have made these contributions in any one or multiple areas of aviation (examples: airport development, services, and improvements; community relations, aviation education, promotion or safety; aviation technology; aviation policy, etc.

Nominations

Anyone may nominate a candidate for an award.  Nomination packages are prepared and distributed by the Virginia Department of Aviation each year.  Completed packages are submitted to the Virginia Department of Aviation.

Virginia Aviation Awards Banquet

Recipients of Virginia Aviation Awards are honored at the annual Virginia Aviation Awards Banquet held during the Virginia Aviation Conference at locations around the Commonwealth of Virginia.
